We build on-premise phone servers for Canadian businesses. Builds start at $1,500 CAD, quoted per site, and include a support contract. You own the equipment outright — it is your asset, in your building, not rented back to you. Same open platform as our hosted service, so the same wide range of phones and devices works with it.
Most of our customers are better served by hosted PBX, and we will say so. But not everyone. Some businesses have a policy, a client contract or a plain preference that says the phone system lives on their premises and the hardware belongs to them. That is a legitimate position, and it is one the industry has spent fifteen years trying to talk people out of because recurring revenue is nicer to own.
So we build both. The platform underneath is the same open, standards-based system either way. The difference is where the box sits and whose balance sheet it is on.

Why the price is a range and not a number
$1,500 is where builds start, and quoting anything more precise on a web page would be dishonest. The cost of an on-premise system is driven by things we cannot know until we ask:
- Extensions and simultaneous calls. Twelve desks and four concurrent calls is a very different machine from ninety desks and thirty.
- What has to physically connect. Analogue lines, a PRI circuit, fax, paging amplifiers, door units and alarm diallers each need specific hardware terminated at the server.
- Resilience. Whether you need redundant power, redundant disks, a spare unit on the shelf, or a failover path when the building loses connectivity.
- Recording and retention. Call recording with a multi-year retention requirement is a storage question and sometimes a compliance one.
- The state of what is there now. A clean cutover is cheaper than untangling fifteen years of undocumented wiring.
A 20-minute call gets us most of the way to a firm number. If your situation is simpler than you feared, we will tell you that too.
Why a support contract is required
We do not sell an unsupported build, and it is worth explaining why rather than presenting it as an upsell. A phone server is an internet-facing system that handles money-adjacent traffic. Left unpatched it becomes a toll-fraud target, and toll fraud on a compromised PBX is measured in thousands of dollars over a weekend. We have no interest in building something that becomes someone else's disaster with our name on it.
The contract covers patching and firmware, configuration changes as your business changes, monitoring, and repair. It is quoted alongside the build, because a twelve-extension office and a ninety-extension multi-site operation are not the same commitment.
Owning the hardware, honestly assessed
Ownership is a real advantage and it is not a total one. What you genuinely get: an asset on your books rather than a permanent monthly line, no dependency on our continued existence for the system to keep running, physical custody of your call recordings and voicemail, and no possibility of the equipment being repossessed if the commercial relationship ends.
What you also take on: the server is in your building, so power, cooling, physical security and the building's internet connection are now part of your phone system's reliability. Hardware eventually fails and replacement is a capital purchase rather than someone else's problem. And a single-site server is a single point of failure in a way that a hosted platform is not, which is exactly why we scope a failover path at quote time.

Your phones work with it either way
On-premise and hosted run the same open platform, so the device list does not change. Yealink, Grandstream, Poly, Snom, Fanvil, Cisco on MPP firmware, analogue adapters, DECT, door intercoms and paging speakers all register to an on-premise build exactly as they do to the hosted one.
